Hong Kong stocks ended 1.06 per cent lower on Wednesday, with investors focused on a host of companies posting earnings reports.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 212.31 points to 19,887.78 on turnover of HK$39.45 billion ($A4.87 billion)).

Chinese shares closed down 0.50 per cent. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 10.56 points to 2,107.71 on turnover of 49.0 billion yuan ($7.7 billion).
