Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange at noon on Thursday:

GNC - GRAINCORP LTD - steady at $12.75

Graincorp's first half profit has fallen by 34 per cent due to costs from its purchase of several food companies and its response to a takeover offer from the United States.

RIO - RIO TINTO LTD - down $1.25, or 2.24 per cent, at $54.52

The maritime union has accused the owners of a Newcastle coal terminal of "continued belligerence" amid an ongoing industrial dispute at the facility.

SYD - SYDNEY AIRPORT - up 3.50 cents, or 0.96 per cent, at $3.695

Sydney Airport has forecast larger distributions for its shareholders as its number of passengers continues to rise.

TLS - TELSTRA CORPORATION - up 8.00 cents, or 1.60 per cent, at $5.09

NWS - NEWS CORPORATION - down 43 cents, or 1.26 per cent, at $33.67

NWSLV - NEWS CORPORATION NON-VOTING COMMON STOCK - down 17 cents, or 0.50 per cent, at $33.52

Foxtel says it will compensate its customers who did not receive a promised free television within 10 days as promised as part of a promotional offer.

VAH - VIRGIN AUSTRALIA HOLDINGS LTD - down 4.00 cents, or 8.70 per cent, at 42.00 cents

Virgin Australia's shares have tumbled following a profit warning issued by the airline after the market closed on Wednesday.
