Gloucester Coal has upgraded the resources available for mining at the Monash Coal projects in the NSW Hunter Valley.

The total coal resources for Monash have increased to 577 million tonnes (mt) from the previously announced 287mt, Sydney-based Gloucester said in a statement on Wednesday.

Measured and indicated resources have increased to 100 million tonnes from 13 million tonnes.

"These are very pleasing results that provide a solid platform to grow the company wellbeyond 10 million tonnes of annual production in the next 10 years," Gloucester Coal chief executive and CEO Brendan McPherson said.
