The glamorous nuptials of Kim Kardashian to basketball player Kris Humphries in Santa Barbara last night has reportedly netted the couple more than $17 million.
The newlyweds sold the exclusive photo rights to US People magazine for $2.4 million, but the biggest payout came from the four-hour, two-part TV special that will air on the E! Network in October, according to the New York Post.
"Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event " is expected to pull up to $15 million for the Kardashian family franchise and for producer Ryan Seacrest.
The couple also get $300,000 for their exclusive engagement announcement in People and $100,000 for exclusive rights to the bridal shower with Britain’s OK! Magazine.
And experts such as LA celebrity event planner Tony Schubert said that the wedding would have been unlikely to have cost the uber-couple anything, with much of it comped from vendors in exchange for publicity.
"It benefits the vendors, their goods and services (to be) shown to millions of people," he said.
Kardashian’s three $20,000 wedding dresses were provided by Vera Wang (she had one for the ceremony and two for later in the evening).
Perrier Jouet Champagne laid on $400,000 worth of champagne and a high-end LA bakery provided a $15,000, 10-tiered wedding cake.
Another freebie was $150,000 in hair and makeup for the 30-year-old bride’s photo shoots.
Another $3 million in jewellery, including the $1 million wedding bands and Kardashian’s $2 million engagement ring by Lorraine Schwartz, were discounted and even the $50,000 bachelorette party was sponsored by Tao in Las Vegas.
No expense was spared at the reception with caviar, kobe beef burgers and truffles all adding up to a bill of around $750,000 for 500 guests.
