New Talisman Gold Mines Limited, formerly Heritage Gold NZ Limited, is engaged in minerals exploration. The Company is developing the historic Talisman Mine in the Hauraki Gold Field. The Company’s projects include Talisman Mining, Rahu Exploration and Coromandel Gold Limited. The Talisman mine comprises the Maria, Crown/Welcome and Mystery veins. The Rahu tenement lies to the north of the Talisman Mine and on the same strike line as the gold bearing veins at Talisman. The Rahu exploration permit of 405 hectares is adjacent to the mining permit. Coromandel Gold Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. Coromandel Gold Limited is exploring the Golden Valley exploration permit EP 40-736. Coromandel Gold Limited has 21.7% holding in Broken Hill Prospecting Limited. Broken Hill Prospecting Limited (BPL) is developing its cobalt and base metals project at Thackaringa near Broken Hill in New South Wales.

The failure of Rip Curl to complete a sale may have been more sport- or company-specific than anything else. Given the rise in the stock market, it’s possible we are on the cusp of an upturn in corporate activity. Macquarie Group’s (ASX: MQG) share price has already run hard, perhaps factoring in the uptick in corporate merger and acquisition (M&A) activity, however there may still be pockets of value amongst some of the smaller listed financial services companies including stockbrokers Wilson HTM (ASX: WIG) and Bell Financial Group (ASX: BFG), who will benefit from an uptick in trading volumes and also any resurgence in M&A business.
