The Company operates in three segments: Coal, Iron ore and Manganese. Its Coal segment is engaged in mining, development, feasibility and exploration activities relating to the consolidated entity’s coal projects in Queensland. The Company's Iron ore segment is engaged in exploration activities relating to the iron ore projects in Australia (the West Pilbara Iron Ore Project) and South Africa (the Meletse Iron Ore Project and the Northern Cape Iron Ore Project. Its Manganese segment is engaged in exploration activities relating to its manganese project in South Africa (the Avontuur (Gravenhage) Manganese Project. The Company operates predominantly in Australia. On July 12, 2012, the Company completed the sale of its 50% interest in the Isaac Plains Coal Mine to Ocean Coal Mining Pty Ltd.
