German Chancellor Angela Merkel cost a charity €500,000 when she failed to pick up a call from a colleague on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.
Wolfgang Bosbach, a Christian Democrat Union politician in Germany nominated Chancellor Merkel as his phone-a-friend on the long-running TV quiz show.
And he needed help on a €500,000 question about a washing machine from the Communist era of the nation's past.

But Bosbach's call for help in answering a question about East German washing machines failed after he twice got Merkel's voicemail.
She only got in touch later, long after Bosbach's turn in the hotseat was finished, asking him: "I couldn't pick up. What's the matter?"
He then tried to contact German president Joachim Gauck, but was caught short when he realised he didn't have his number on his phone.
German news agency dpa quoted Bosbach as saying he wasn't sure it would have been good to have had the chancellor pick up, as she might have chastised him for calling her about a quiz show question.
Bosbach walked away with €125,000 for charity.
