A Libyan man is asking for $2 million for the wedding ring and bloodied shirt of executed former dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

The man claims the ring and shirt were taken from the corpse of Gaddafi after he was killed by rebel soldiers near his home town of Sirte in October.

Ahmed Warfali is selling the ring and the shirt in Libya, but he believes he could get more than his $2 million asking price if it was up for sale in Europe, newspaper Alquds Alarabi reported.

The silver ring is engraved with the date Gaddafi married his second wife Safia in 1970, soon after he became Libya's head of state as a 27-year-old.

His first marriage to Fatiha al-Nuri lasted barely a year before he met Safia.
