The brief history of social media is already littered with companies generating publicity for all the wrong reasons.
This week Nokia New Zealand's Twitter page was either hacked or used by an unhappy employee.
The tweet simply read 'F**k You' and was sent to all of the telco's 1400 followers.
The company apologised in a subsequent tweet but has so far given no explanation for the rogue message. It said it was investigating the source of the tweet, but gave no indication its account had been hacked.
Here's some other noteworthy social media flops and fiascos from the past few years.
